Orchestra 1756 is one of Europe’s top-tier Baroque ensembles specializing in 17th- & 18th-century repertoire performed on period instruments. The orchestra maintains concert series in Vienna, Salzburg and Munich.
Highlights of recent seasons include performances at prestigious festival and venues, including Bad Kissinger Sommer, Mozart Festival Bratislava and Tartini-Festival Piran, and collaborations with Daniel Kotlinski, Giulio Carmignola, Vittorio Ghielmi, and Vesselina Kasarova.
Orchestra 1756 has recorded numerous CDs of, among other works, Mozart’s “Requiem”, Leopold Mozart’s Trio Sonata op.1, Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, Scarlatti’s “Il martirio della St. Cecilia”.
Karlskirche
Widely considered the finest Baroque church in Vienna, Karlskirche was designed and commenced by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach and completed by his son Joseph. Construction took more than 20 years (1716-1737), the result is a richly eclectic masterpiece.
